About this deal

The CrossWave Max weighs a very respectable 5.22kg and comes with an extra large 828ml clean water tank and a larger-than-average 550ml dirty water tank with filter attached. This means you can clean for much longer than others without having to refill the clean water tank or empty the dirty one. Top marks there. This is ideal if you want to make floors look glossy and give carpets a sort-of deep clean (it really is fantastic; 30 minutes with this vacuum and half the house looked like it had undergone a complete makeover). The dust container of this vacuum cleaner has a capacity of 0.55 liters, offering ample space to collect dirt and dust before needing to be emptied. Additionally, it features a dirty water tank with a capacity of 0.828 liters, allowing for the collection of liquid messes during the cleaning process. On running out of power, the CrossWave Cordless Max takes four hours to recharge. Depending on the size of your home, then, you may need to schedule your cleaning over a couple of days.

CrossWave Cordless Max review - The Sun UK Bissell CrossWave Cordless Max review - The Sun UK

This sets off an automatic clean of the rotating brush bar - and it works pretty well. Ours looked nearly completely clean - and that was after an intense 30 minute vacuum of the whole ground floor. Powered by a battery, the Bissell CrossWave Cordless Max provides the freedom of cordless operation, eliminating the hassle of dealing with tangled cords or limited mobility. This makes it easier to maneuver and clean hard-to-reach areas without the constraints of an electrical outlet. When it comes to hard floor performance evaluation, I’d like to think I have a good test bed for a device of this nature. Yes, kids make a mess and even some grown ups do, too. But nothing – nothing I tell you – messes up a house more than a bunch of animals. I have two labs and three cats and that means muddy floors on a regular basis… and hair. So. Much. Hair. Manoeuvrability is good, with the jointed head letting you sweep around and through bits of furniture and chairs. The only issue you might have is that there are now detail tools, so you may still have to clean some areas by hand if you can’t physically get the CrossWave Cordless Max’s head into a spot. Our biggest gripe with it? It's heavy. After 10 minutes, you'll notice your wrist start to ache a bit.

Cons

This writer despises household cleaning machines that can’t stand up on their own so you’ll be pleased to learn that this one can. Like an old-fashioned Hoover, you simply push the handle into an upright position and, voila, it stands up on its own. That’s what I’m talking about. Aside from the on/off button, the CrossWave Max also has a floor selector that activates two types of water intensity for treated wooden floors and non-porous compounds like tile, linoleum, polished concrete. A separate button activates the self-cleaning mode when the unit is mounted to the charger-cum-cleaning station. We tested out the Bissell CrossWave Cordless Max in our not-very-clean house. Four kids, two adults, months spent doing everything at home, from crafting and cooking to rollerskating... you get the idea.

We were really impressed by how clean our floors looked, how easy it was to set up and use and the automatic cleaning function eliminates a lot of hassle (and is a big improvement on the original model). Handy LED lights at the front of the Cordless Max illuminate the area you’re cleaning, so you’re unlikely to miss any dirt. Simply attach the CrossWave to its charging tray (ensure there is fresh water and cleaning fluid) and hold down the button in the middle of the device for around 40 seconds. Anyway, the upshot is that the CrossWave Cordless Max performed a miraculous feat by restoring the floor to its original condition – well at least close enough. I then added a squirt of ketchup to see how well it cleaned it up and how well the self-cleaning system performed. Lo and behold, my new floor dynamo completely eradicated the ketchup after just two passes, depositing it all in the dirty water tank which by now resembled the contents of a cesspit. Emptying the contents into the sink was easy but I did have to manually remove a bunch of hair and rinse the whole tank under the tap – par for the course with any floor cleaner. This model offers 30 minutes of run-time from the powerful 36V battery: that’s five more minutes than the standard CrossWave Cordless. Not only that, but since cleaning ability has been improved, you’ll be able to cover a wider area on a single charge. I managed to clean my entire downstairs, plus the loft-conversion bedroom and bathroom on a single charge, and I still had a bit of juice remaining. It is very versatile and we love that it can be used anywhere in the house, to remove pretty much any kind of mess.

The Bissell CrossWave Cordless Max is a bagless vacuum cleaner designed for cleaning both carpeted and hard floor surfaces. With a battery voltage of 36V, it provides a runtime of approximately 30 minutes, making it suitable for light to medium cleaning tasks. The CrossWave Cordless Max Bundle comes with 2 bottles of full sized formula (1x Multi-Surface, 1x Wood Floor Formula), plus an Area Rug Brushroll & Wood Floor Brushroll , and extra filter for those tough to remove stains. This bundle is great for setting you up with everything that you'll need for multiple clean ups across multiple floortypes. Next, I tested its cleaning performance. My kitchen floor often gets quite dirty because I have three cats that regularly walk in and out, bringing in mud from outside. The CrossWave Cordless Max made short work of even toughs stains that some floor cleaners struggle with, leaving a clean and relatively dry floor. The Bissell CrossWave Cordless Max can be used on hardwood floors, tiles or carpets - and there are no wires to trip you up. There's a power on button at the top and another one on the underside of the handle, which lets you squirt out a mix of water and solution, for a wet clean. For us, that was just about enough time to really thoroughly clean three or four rooms - just note, your wrist is likely to get tired before then, as the one downside with this multi-surface cleaner is that it's heavy.

What to do if my CrossWave Cordless Max has no suction

Better yet, it's more advanced than its predecessor - the Bissell Cordless CrossWave 3-in-1 Multi Surface cleaner - thanks to nifty new features like self-clean technology.
