About this deal

You will be left with some rather tasty rhubarb. I found I could eat it raw as the ginand sugar had really penetrated into the flesh. It's also rather nice in a Strawberry and Rhubarb Crumble. Ring the changes Rhubarb and Ginger Gin

I remember being very proud of my first batch of Sloe Gin, made when I was about 22. It was the first thing I had made that my mother hadn't. Now I make all sorts of fruit gins. We’re such big fans of this limited batch strawberry offering by the Copper Rivet Distillery that it’s made it into both this round-up and our best pink gin feature. We love the moreish, natural tasting strawberry flavour that comes through in this gin; it’s hard to believe that there’s absolutely no added sugar in this wonderfully sweet spirit. If you really want to impress your guests this festive season, then make this mouth-watering tart. It takes a little while to make but it’s so worth it! Infusing spirits with fruit is a great and easy way to impart some flavour. You can use the lesser expensive spirits too and it works just as well!Don't use expensive gin - a supermarket brand is fine (I use Waitrose London Dry Gin). London Dry gin is distilled with botanicals, otherwise flavouring is added after distillation

Absolutely not! Many gins do have added sugar to make them sweeter and this is particularly the case with gin liqueurs. However, an equal number of gins proudly claim to contain no added sugar and only use natural flavourings. Make Your Whipped Cream: Pour the heavy cream into a bowl and whip using beaters until soft peaks form. Then, add the Greek yogurt and beat again until stiff peaks form.

Secrets of Success

Looking for the best flavoured gin for a fruity summer refresher? We’ve searched high and low to find some of the very best on the market – from berry-rich tipples to fine wine and citrus gins. Longing for that classic gin taste with just a hint of something different? This floral, tangy rhubarb and raspberry gin from Yorkshire-based Sloemotion distillery is a refreshing choice that offers the best of both worlds. On its own, this gin is rather sharp and strong but when paired with a clean tonic, it’s tangy flavour pushes through ever so gently, leaving you with a beautifully balanced taste.

Prepare Your Ingredients: Pour the flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt into a large mixing bowl and stir. Then, in a separate jug, stir the milk, oil and vanilla extract together. This highly unusual cardamom gin from Sacred spirits is one for the truly adventurous. Unsurprisingly, this gin is very heavy on the cardamom, which gives it an incredibly deep and aromatic flavour. You also get hints of spicy pepper and aniseed, all of which are clean and crisp, making a classic tonic its perfect partner. This gin goes fantastically well with Indian food, thanks to its fresh and complementary flavours. Fresh or frozen raspberries are fine.Just make sure that your fresh raspberries are indeed fresh. Shop bought raspberries and strawberries don’t seem to have a long life at all. So there’s something to be said about using frozen, I always have a couple of bags in the freezer, for all sorts of reasons.Although Rhubarb Gin is delicious on its own as a liqueur, I rather like it with tonic, especially a less-sweet one like Fever Tree or Fentimans. What equipment do you need? I use a two-litre Kilner jar to make my fruit gins. This gives you plenty of room for one litre of gin, the fruit and the sugar. The yield is just over a litre - maybe 1.1-1.2 litres. If you use half quantities, you could use a one-litre jar - or an empty gin bottle. Fresh fruit or frozen?

We know that choosing the right gin is going to be a very personal thing – after all, everyone’s tastes are different – but there are still a few things to consider when buying a flavoured gin. Are all flavoured gins sweet? I love infused liqueurs and this Raspberry Gin has gone all the way up my list of favourite drinks, clamouring for first place alongside Rhubarb Gin and Limoncello. It’s an aromatic drink with lovely shades of sweet and tart.Layer Your Dessert: In a dessert glass, alternate between a layer of compote and a layer of whipped cream. Top with a single fresh raspberry and serve. 5. A Rhubarb And Raspberry Frangipane Tart The steeping time will change depending on what is added to your infusion. Stronger flavoured herbs will only need a few days to impart their flavour. The flavour of the gin isn't affected by the colour of the rhubarb, but the colour is. If you're looking for that delicate pale pink, use pink rhubarb Use up the gin-soaked rhubarb This unusual gin by Four Pillars is steeped in Yarra Valley Shiraz grapes for a distinctly fruity flavour that’s mouth-wateringly juicy. It’s rich enough to drink on its own but also goes fab with a classic or lemon tonic. We think it tastes less like a standard gin and more like a boozy, posh Ribena. There’s a touch of spicy juniper but this doesn’t burst through like some of the other gins on this list.
