Twelve of the thirteen official WRC 2023 stages will be in EA Sports WRC at launch, with Central Rally Europe coming in a free post-release update. This is a new stage introduced in the 2023 WRC calendar that starts in Prague and takes drivers on a challenging route through the Czech Republic, Austria and Lower Bavaria. So I don’t know if I’ll like this game or not. Especially now that EA has their microtransaction-y hands all over it. I prefer the older games with the WRC branding, made by completely different developers. I’ve really only played WRC 9, so I can’t speak for the older games — or the two newer games in that series — but I feel like it has a better balance between realism and fun-to-play. But I might be in the minority in this opinion; it seems like most people prefer Dirt Rally. This list includes every racing wheel that is compatible with EA Sports WRC on PlayStation 5 consoles. There are some notable omissions such as the new Fanatec ClubSport DD+ wheel. While not included, we would expect this wheel and others which aren’t included on this list to work just fine.

The only other caveat is the asphalt handling, which has been tweaked, but perhaps not for the better – at least, not for controller players. The sheer responsiveness of the cars on asphalt is acceptable on my Thrustmaster TS-XW racing wheel, but on a controller it’s extremely twitchy and very difficult to sling high-powered cars into drifts without oversteering instantly. I’ve tried dulling the sensitivity and adjusting the steering linearity but I don’t think I’ve found the right solution yet. The new generation of WRC game is upon us with the launch of EA Sports WRC (not the catchiest of names). This new rally game will be the official WRC game moving forward, with the license being taken over from previous developer Kylotonn.Fixed an issue where decals applied to the rear bodywork Style #2 and Style #5 on Builder would not apply correctly. Being the official WRC game, all teams and drivers from the 2022 WRC season will be in WRC 11. Either way if couldn't tell I want a Sega GT or improved system of a car builder but no one will do it I doubt it. There is a reason why with Forza Motorsport 8 I went 'oh cool a grid payout feature' and that's it. Besides 'wow a bunch of montage footage no wonder I'm not interested they won't show me anything actually exciting and blink in and out the tuning in the trailer then the extended gameplay I had to see what they'd done' XD Though the more they did tell me the more I got less interested. Cough online required aside.

WRC 10 is a great rally game and a lovely, if a fraction flawed, ode to the… 49-year history of the World Rally Championship. The end result isn’t streets ahead of the already impressive WRC 9 – and it’s still making some of the latter’s minor mistakes – but WRC 10 is another successful example of KT Racing’s commitment to fantastic stage design and frantic, fast-paced, and occasionally unforgiving fun. – Luke Reilly, September 3, 2021 Score: 8
