About this deal

No. You can certainly operate it outdoors but don’t leave the RIVER 2 PPS outside in the rain or extreme temperatures for extended periods.

However, just because the RIVER 2 is among the most durable portable power stations on the market doesn’t mean you should drop it in the ocean. For one thing, RIVER 2 has multiple AC, DC, USB-A, and USB-C ports so that you can charge all your devices at once. If you need more power, consider upgrading to other RIVER 2 series devices, such as the RIVER 2 Pro or RIVER 2 Max — each of which offers greater AC output. RIVER 2 Pro offers 800W running watts and up to 1600W starting watts (surge power) using X-Boost. For example, you can connect it to an EcoFlow 220W Bifacial Portable Solar Panel since the solar Input of RIVER 2 is 8A Max,11-30V 110W, and the Open Circuit Voltage of EcoFlow 220W Bifacial Portable Solar Panel is 21.8V, which falls within that range. However, any extra electricity produced over 110W gives you no additional benefit. The Max is lighter and more compact than its counterpart. The Pro offers more electricity storage and output capacity for those who want to operate larger (or more) devices for longer. That isn’t to say that it meets the needs of everyone, but unless you require a large battery capacity or a high amount of power output, this unit delivers a near-perfect blend of performance and portability. Compact, Lightweight With upgraded long-lasting LFP battery chemistry at its core, charge and empty RIVER 2 Series over 3000 times. That's pretty much 10 years of everyday use1 and 6x longer than the industry average. With LFP cells, RIVER 2 Series is safe, durable, and highly efficient, even in warm temperatures. The 220W PV panel comes at a higher price, and some of the energy it captures will likely go to waste… The RIVER 2 Pro has more electricity storage (Wh/kWh) and output capacity (W/kW) than the RIVER 2 Max, but the Max is lighter, smaller, and easier to carry. One of the most impressive things about the River 2 Pro’s design is how many charging ports EcoFlow managed to squeeze into its form factor. The unit comes with four full-size 120V AC outlets, along with a 12V DC vehicle charging port and two 12V “barrel-style” ports. It also has three 2.4-amp USB-A ports and a single bi-directional 100W USB-C PD (Power Delivery) port.

Colour LCD display – using the exact screen of the Delta 2, this is probably the best display on the market in terms of useful information. The display shows a) time left to fully charge/discharge b) existing battery % remaining c) power coming in and d) power going out. The River 2 is an updated version of the original EcoFlow River, and the main change is the adoption of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) cells as the battery technology. The RIVER 2 Pro’s AC and DC power ports are all standards compliant, ensuring seamless connectivity with all photographic and video kits. But remember, its power output has a ceiling – attempting to run high-drain appliances like iron will cause it to trip. The RIVER 2 Pro, whilst offering an impressive maximum output of 800W and being surge-protected up to 1600W, won’t take kindly to a standard iron which will happily draw some 3000w, if not more, during the heating process. The RIVER 2 Pro takes slightly longer to charge to full capacity than the RIVER 2 Pro. That’s because it has 50% more storage capacity. Both technologies have their fan base, with traditional lithium-ion (NMC) having better energy density and efficiency than LiFePO4. However not by much. In contrast, LiFePO4 is safer and can withstand many more charge/discharge cycles. About 6x as many (3000 vs 500) before the storage capacity has dropped to 80% of the starting amount. If you’re fully discharging charging the River 2 every single day for 8 years, it will still have 80% capacity available to you. Pretty reassuring in our opinion. Battery Capacity of the River 2 Yes, you can simultaneously operate the PPS and charge it. Simply plug the RIVER 2 into an AC outlet and plug whatever device needs power into the appropriate outlet on the PPS.
