About this deal

The Seiko Prospex Sumo SPB101J1 has a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. This means that it can run for up to 70 hours after being fully wound.

The Sumo case is a piece of art with all its mix of brushed and polished surfaces. The detail of the rotating bezel entering the case is stunning. The movement is very precise and so far it gained about +2 seconds per day with a regular use. The 70-hour power reserve is excellent as it allows you to give the watch some rest over the weekend and to have it ready on Mondays (but, honestly, this is not going to happen to me as I’m pretty sure I will be wearing this beauty all the time I can). The SeikoSPB101J1 has a sporty and robuststainless steel 3-piece-bracelet with a width of 20mm with brushed links and polished accents. The bracelet also has a wet-suit extension that offers a large enough extension to be used for putting the watch over your wetsuit. The bracelet really gives the overall impression of the Sumo a seamless look and feel. On the wrist, it gives the impression that it will never let you down. Bezel The case material of the Seiko Prospex Sumo SPB101J1 is stainless steel. This makes it durable and resistant to corrosion. Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit.If you require an extra large bracelet or you are in need of additional links these may be supplied at an additional cost. I bought the Seiko Prospex Automatic Sumo SPB101J1 about ten days ago and I have been wearing it daily since then with great satisfaction. When it comes to comparable watches to the Seiko Prospex Sumo (Reference: SPB101J1), there are a few options worth considering. One such watch is the Seiko Prospex Turtle (SRP777). Like the Sumo, the Turtle is a dive watch with a similar design and build quality. It also features a reliable automatic movement and a durable stainless steel case. However, the Turtle is slightly smaller than the Sumo, making it a better option for those with smaller wrists. Tuna, Samurai, Alpinist, Turtle, and many more… There are dozens of emblematic watches with Seiko‘s logo printed on their dials. Many are part of the Prospex range, dedicated to dive watches and professionally-speced models in general. The collection has been largely revamped recently, with many of the classic models updated and upgraded with more resistant materials and better execution – think about the King Samurai, the King Turtle or the new Shogun. Slightly overlooked recently, it’s now time for the Sumo to resurface, with new editions with revised materials and cool design elements. Here are the Seiko Sumo Prospex Diver 200m SPB321J1 & SPB323J1. An emblematic model from 2007

What is particularly interesting about this design is that its design has remained more or less unchanged since it was first presented, which goes to show it is a truly timeless design. Something watch enthusiast love, and proof that Seiko has done a great job with the design. We understand the importance of sizing the length of your watch bracelet or strap to provide the perfect fit. Our simple to use watch sizing guide allows you to measure the size of your wrist from the comfort of your own home. The bracelet is very beautifully finished and feels solid. Generally, affordable watches tend to compromise on the bracelet the most and have things like folded links and hollow end links which results in the impression of poor finish, but with this bracelet, Seiko shows that you actually get your money’s worth. I’m extremely pleased by the quality of the newly introduced sapphire glass, always shiny and clear, so much that it seems to disappear from the view when you look at the dial under certain angles. Seiko – the brand that has become synonymous with affordable and qualitative affordable timepieces. In fact, we would even dare to say that Seiko’s watches are some of the best value money can buy if you factor in finish, quality, and durability.Today, we sat down to take a look at the new Seiko Sumo Prospex Diver at Baselworld 2019: an update to a fan favorite. Watch sizing can only be generally carried out on watches with metal bracelets, steel, titanium, gold, etc. If you are looking for a professional dive watch that can do all of that, and have a seriously sporty presence on the wrist, the SPB103j1 ”Sumo” may just be the watch for you. Overall, the dial is very well executed and manages to stay true to the Sumo design, whilst adding a very vibrant colorful touch. The lime on this watch is great and glows brightly for many hours, which we expect in a dive watch.

The SPB103j1 was released in 2019 and is the successor of the previous model SBDC031 which it replaced. The movement is perhaps the biggest difference going from Seiko’s 14-year-old 6R15 to the new in-house caliber 6R35. The movement is automatic with a central rotor and offers a power reserve of 70 hours, which is a huge improvement of 20 hours from the 6R15. This robust and durable movement gives makes this SeikoSPB101J1 a greatwatch in this price class. The movement beats at a 3Hz frequency making 21.600 beats per hour. Another comparable watch is the Citizen Promaster Diver (BN0151-09L). This watch also boasts a water resistance of up to 200 meters and a reliable automatic movement. However, the Promaster Diver has a more modern design with a larger case and a more colorful dial. It also features a solar-powered movement, making it a more eco-friendly option.Amongst watch enthusiasts, Seiko’s sports and dive watches have proven to be the most popular. Seiko has a long history of making professional dive watches, and these vintage watches today have a large devoted following of collectors. The dial of the Seiko SPB101J1 is slightly matte which gives it a textured and rich finish and also prevents glare and distracting reflections. The dial has not changed very much from the predecessor as the text is the same, the date window still has the white squared line around it and the Prospex logo still is present. The dial is however richly filled with luminova, or as Seiko calls it “LumiBrite”, which really does glow brightly in the dark. This is generally a very simple procedure. We can do this for you, or you can get the watch adjusted locally. Option 1. Specify your wrist measurement and we will adjust it before being sent The bracelet goes very well with the sporty design of the watch, but some may be surprised to see a 20mm bracelet for a case of this size. In our opinion, it works very well.

The dial is definitely the highlight of this watch as it has a lovely vibrant green color with a beautiful sunburst brushed finish. Due to the sunburst effect of the dial, it reflects the sunlight beautifully, and changes look from a fir green to a striking bright emerald color. In 2019, under the new references SPB101J1 and SPB103J1, the Sumo was slightly revised. The overall design was maintained, with only minor alterations. The bezel insert was redesigned with a more discreet scale, a new green dial/bezel model was launched. What really changed was the use of a sapphire crystal and the new calibre 6R35, with a beefed-up power reserve. The 2022 Seiko Sumo The Seiko Sumo is also known as the MM200, which stands for ”Marinemaster 200” because of the similarities with the much more expensive SLA021J1 known as the real MarineMaster ”MM300”. This truly is a great watch for the money and is a perfect entry-level professional Divers watch, Let’s have a deeper understanding of why that is so, and go into detail about theSeiko Prospex Sumo SPB101J1 Automatic Watch.
