About this deal

Disassemble the housing (unscrew two screws next to the handle and four screws around the housing at the top) The V7 Trigger weighs just 1.38kg, so it’s considerably lighter than corded vacuums. It’s also lighter than most cordless vacuums, largely because it doesn’t have a wand or full-size floorhead. If you need a lightweight vacuum cleaner for convenient cleaning, then the Trigger is a great choice. The mini motorised tool is great for cleaning most surfaces, but it’s too bulky for awkward locations. It may also be too abrasive for delicate surfaces. For this reason, Dyson has included the following tools: The V7 Trigger comes with a 21.6V battery that can provide a maximum of 30-minutes suction power. This is much longer than many handheld vacs (some models last less than 10 minutes), making the Trigger a great choice for longer cleaning sessions. Unlike older Dyson cordless vacuums, the V7 Trigger has the company’s new hygienic emptying system. To empty the vac, you pull up the cylinder to allow dust and debris to fall into a bin. The great thing about this system is that you (usually) don’t need to touch the dirt, as it’s pushed out of the canister by a silicone collar.

Another Dyson innovation is ‘the Ball’. This, as the name suggests, is a large ball upon which the vacuum cleaner pivots. Thanks to this single pivot, upright Dyson cleaners are easier to manoeuvre around the house in comparison to traditional wheel-based vacuums. The V7 Trigger provides powerful suction for a handheld vacuum cleaner. It can’t match the V8, V10, and V11 when it comes to raw power, but we found that it does a brilliant job of most cleaning tasks for a lower price. Let’s take a closer look at how the Trigger performs when faced with common handheld vacuum tasks. Around the HomeJust like the larger V7 Absolute, the Trigger sports the hygienic bin system which makes emptying the reservoir simple and painless. It also comes with extensions aplenty. As well as the main vacuum unit, the extension pole and extra-large cleaning head (with hair removal veins to keep it clean), the Dyson Outsize comes with a smaller soft head for hard floors and a mini-motorised tool for cleaning stairs and other inconvenient places. You’ll also get a variety of brushes, adaptors and other extensions. Slide the housing of the upright vacuum cleaner and unscrew the white hood of the vacuum cleaner with a Torx T8. Then unclip it on the sides (with a flat screwdriver) Having said that, for most upholstery, the V7 Trigger is powerful enough to do the job in regular mode with little effort. And the 30-minute battery life is more than sufficient, too, principally because it only cleans when you squeeze the trigger. When you release your finger from the trigger, the vacuum switches off so you’re not draining the battery when you move from one place to another.

We found the Dyson V7 Trigger to be a useful tool for cleaning cars, due to the cordless design and 30-minute battery life. During our tests, the mini motorised tool was also effective at removing crumbs, hair and other loose debris from car seats and footwells. Upright – This is a one-piece unit and the model that most closely resembles the traditional machine that most people will picture when they think of a vacuum cleaner. The suction head is at the bottom, the handle is at the top and the dust container mounted in between. It’s a simple, tried and tested design. For a handheld vac, you won't get much better in terms of suction. The Trigger sports the same Dyson V7 digital motor as the larger model, so it has incredible power for such a small unit. The V7 Trigger is pretty scarce when it comes to attachments. In the box you'll get the crevice tool for getting down the side of your car seats, and the combination tool, with a wider barrel for larger surface areas and a brush addition for hard surfaces.

There’s an increase in the suction, naturally, with this new vacuum’s stated suction power upgraded to 240 air watts, compared with 185 air watts in the equivalent V11. However, the headline innovations in this model are located in its motorised heads. And in max mode, the suction is second-to-none. I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find a handheld that does the same job on both carpets and hard surfaces. A bonus is that the Dyson V7 Trigger’s battery can be replaced. It’s not swappable to increase the vacuum’s run-time though, as changing the battery involves several screws. In practice, we found that this works most of the time, but clumps of hair and dirt can still get caught. When this happened, the only option was to pull it out be hand. We still think it’s more hygienic than most handheld vacuums we’ve reviewed though. On the upside, we like how easy it is to access the V7’s Trigger. There’s no need to dismantle the vacuum to wash it, as the filter pulls out from the top of the main cylinder. Emptying & CleaningIt has the usual attachments for crevice cleaning and dusting, plus a small motorised head for mats and rugs, but is definitely not suitable if you’ve got more carpet than you’re prepared to vacuum on your hands and knees.
