Radgonske Gorice is the oldest Sparkling Wine producer in Slovenia, they started over 160 years ago in 1852, they produce 4,500,000 litres of wine every year, with a production that high it makes sense that Radgonske Gorice is the largest producer of Sparkling Wine in Slovenia. If you see this bottle, you would agree that it doesn’t look like this would be a citrusy-flavored gin at all. It looks more like a rough version of a gin or maybe even a barrel-aged gin. A lemon-based gin is most often based on the base gin recipe of a specific brand, but in this case with more added lemon notes. The recipe of this classic gin is then slightly altered to fit the flavor palate of the added lemon notes more. First team Forged steep the core botanicals of juniper and coriander seed for a day to soften their tough outer skins before slowly heating them in the organic neutral grain spirit. The botanical oils are then carried in the vapour through the infusion basket that contains the more delicate botanicals. The vapour is condensed and collected at a sedate pace to allow the different flavour compounds to be isolated; this allows the portions of the run that are not considered pure enough to make the final product to be discarded. If that wasn’t enough they only use the “one shot” method, never do they dilute the gin with more plain spirit that hasn’t been distilled. This creates the purest gin that can be produced and is the envy of mainstream producers who could not hope to use this method due to the labour intensive processes and costs involved. The City of London Distillery opened on the 20th of December in 2012 and was the first distillery in the city of London to open for almost 200 years.
