About this deal

The StoryLearning Spanish podcast is a daily Spanish podcast for intermediate level learners (A2-B1). The only small issue is that there were a handful of typos/errors. For example, in one scene of a story, a character called Elvira is referred to as Sofia by another character, but such errors are rare and don't impact on being able to understand and enjoy the stories. As a result, you will be able to focus on enjoying reading, delighting in your improved range of vocabulary and grasp of the language, without ever feeling overwhelmed or frustrated. The stories are levelled from A2-B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference and from Novice High to Low-Mid Intermediate ACTFL Receptive Proficiency. Short Stories in Spanish for Beginners, Volume 2 is written for students from high-beginner to intermediate level. The eight captivating stories are designed to give you a sense of achievement and a feeling of progress when reading. You’ll enjoy reading in Spanish, grow your vocabulary in a natural way, and improve your comprehension at the same time. Based on extensive research into how people most enjoy and benefit from reading in a new language, this book eliminates the frustrations you experience when trying to read in Spanish.

Helpful Glossaries To Help You Learn New Words: Each episode also includes a glossary or word list, to help you build your Spanish vocab fast. We have selected around 10 words from every chapter to include in these glossaries. Stories are broken down into manageable chapters, so you make progress with the story and feel a sense of achievement. Realistic amounts of new vocabulary are introduced so that you’re not deterred by complex words. Instead of pausing to look up every word, you’ll absorb new vocabulary from the context of the story, and have the satisfaction of that moment when you say: “I totally understood that sentence!” The story chapters in the podcast are narrated in Iberian Spanishby a professional voice actress from Spain. Your host, Sofía, is from Argentina, though she generally uses neutral Spanish when speaking at the beginning or end of a podcast episode. StoryLearning® is based on the idea that rather than studying with textbooks, learning with stories is a much more natural way to improve. It allows you to build your vocabulary fast, and because you learn the language in context, you master grammar more easily. Before we dive into the details, we should introduce ourselves first! That would be polite wouldn't it?Natural dialogues in each story, so that you can learn conversational Spanish and improve your speaking ability! How would you like to win a FREE set of my bestselling Spanish story books (plus the accompanying audiobooks)? Then you are going to hear a repetition of the story so you get a chance to listen to it again without having to rewind

A fun, exciting and natural way to immerse yourself in Spanish every single day and improve your skills fast. Pleasure! It's much easier to learn a new language when you're having fun, and research shows that if you're enjoying reading in a foreign language, you won't experience the usual feelings of frustration - 'It's too hard!' 'I don't understand!' So, there's no waiting for a week to get the next episode. You'll have a new chapter of the story to tune into every single day which means you can really develop the habit of listening to and immersing yourself in Spanish daily. This will really annoy the inconsistency villain! Who Is This Podcast For? I can't evaluate this book like I would another short story collection, because it has a specific purpose and limitations that keep it from being a pure piece of creative writing. I can say that I learned a lot, having read through it several times. I liked the variety of the stories. Of course I thought some were more interesting than others but they all served their purpose to help me build my ability to read Spanish, and I'll be rereading it off and on. The more exposure I get to Spanish the more I begin to understand. I also appreciated that the chapters were short but they made up a longer story. It's a lot more satisfying for me to read eight longer works than 25 really short pieces. Several of the stories had me wondering how things would work out, which makes reading more fun, too. We're immersing ourselves in Spanish. But we're doing it at a level that is comprehensible to us, it's not too hard. That means that we can listen and read to the story and understand a fair amount of it. And when we understand a little bit (or maybe a lot!) that's when we can learn, because it's not too hard for us.

One of the most common questions I get about all my Spanish learning materials is this: “What variety of Spanish do you use?” I think I would have enjoy this so much more if the author had instead of writing his own stories had instead opted to use already famous / good short stories and then adding this "learning" layer on top. I do realize this comes with a few problems on its own. Controlled language at your level, including the 1000 most frequent words, to help you progress confidently

Everything is very simplified so the stories rely a lot on stereotypes of personalities (this is especially true of El caballero, La capsula and Tierras desconocidas). So a lot of the characters don't have very interesting personalities and the motivations are quite cliché for some things. But that's to be expected and necessary when the language itself has to be simplified. Short Stories in Spanish for Intermediate Learners has been written especially for students from beginner to intermediate level, designed to give a sense of achievement, and most importantly - enjoyment! Mapped to B1-approaching B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference, these eight captivating stories will both entertain you, and give you a feeling of progress when reading. All of my courses and books teach languages through a concept that I call StoryLearning®… and this podcast is no different! The La criatura story made me laugh but I did think her family were mean to have pulled that kind of prank on her! And La Paella Loca definitely relied on a few heavy coincidences.

In this article, I'll give you an introduction to the podcast and the team who have created it. Plus, I'll show you exactly how to get this most out of this incredible free resource so you can build your Spanish vocabulary and master grammar fast. The Spanish speaking world is full of so many different accents, but whatever kind of Spanish you're learning – whether you plan to move to Mexico or to Argentina or to Columbia– it doesn't matter. 99% of all Spanish is the same! The podcast is aimed at a low intermediate level (A2-B1 on the Common European Framework [CEFR]). So, this podcast is not for complete beginners.Carefully curated to make learning a new language easy, these stories include key features that will support and consolidate your progress, including This book is intended to be part of an Extensive Reading program to learn a language. It's goal is to provide Comprehensible Input for the beginner. I capitalized those words so you can do a search and learn about them yourself if they are unfamiliar to you. There's lots of info on the internet and youtube about them. There's also a very informative and helpful introduction and quite a bit of info in the front of this book on how to use it best. Each story has a controlled vocabulary and will introduce the reader to about 1000 of the most common words used in that language. Controlled language at your level, including the most frequent words, to help you progress confidently I also think that giving a paragraph summary at the end of each chapter, a new vocab list and a round of questions to answer helped to cement that feeling of comprehension. I might not have known every word or every sentence, but going through this summary section did increase my confidence that I'd understood enough.
