Using HyperX’s software, the entire keyboard can be remapped or assigned macros, windows shortcuts, media controls, and more. The HyperX Alloy FPS RGB and the HyperX Alloy Elite 2 perform very similarly and are both remarkable choices for gaming. There are angles at the edges as well as around the feet, but the main reason to look under here is the product sticker.

We do like that the bottom of the feet have a rubber pad on them for added grip, but this can make the feet collapse if you find yourself shifting the keyboard around on the desk a lot.

Back to the switches, we saw earlier that they are built by Kailh, they are mechanical, and exposed at the back of each switch is an RGB LED capable of displaying nearly 16. There is a subtle chamfer along the keyboard’s edges, which looks good and is comfier to rest your fingers on than a boxier design. Finally, the keyboard uses a removable Mini USB cable rather than the usual Micro-B or USB-C, as the older standard is slightly cheaper and users are less likely to plug in their own (potentially subpar) cables.

I’m finding the Kailh switches a bit noisier than the equivalent Cherry switches, but that’s the only noticeable difference. This can be as simple as solid colors on WASD keys while other keys are another color or mode, or as complex as making keyboard art. Of course, while the software delivers even more features than what we have listed, on its own, at first glance, the Alloy Series from HyperX is something that can and will draw in the masses to look deeper into which of the lineup is best for their needs. The Alloy FPS passes power but not data through this port, so you can charge your phone but not, you know, plug a mouse into it or any of the various devices you’d actually want to use.The HyperX Alloy FPS RGB is a better gaming keyboard than the Logitech G513, but the Logitech is more versatile and performs better for office use and mixed usage.
