About this deal

Note: We focussed mainly on the Disc 1 Director's Cut in 4K, and with that found some temporary issues which were all resolved with some gentle cleaning of the disc. A movie classic from the 1980’s that has aged wonderfully and is still just as entertaining as it was upon its release. FEATURED POSTS: The Film Feud of the 90s: Steven Seagal vs Jean-Claude Van Damme The Essential Movies About Memory Ten Controversial Movies and the Drama Around Them The B-Movie Queens 1993 and 2002: Steven Spielberg Rules Cinema! There are occasions where Arrow’s previously (and arguably) over-boosted whites or blacks eat up some of the finer textures and shades.

The HDR improvements of the UHD are, once again, the bigger story here and more immediately impressive than any increase in detail. As a variety of featurettes contrasting the various versions remind us, Verhoeven’s cut was rated X by the MPAA and so trims were made, most famously to the scene where the ED-209 mows down an executive during a conference. Arrow's 4K release of Robocop comes in a number of different flavours - the Limited Edition boasting the now compulsory art cards and poster, but also a likely unmissable 80-Page Booklet packed with background information, images and interviews. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Omar Ahmed and Christopher Griffiths also contribute essays, the first focusing on the role of trauma and memory in RoboCop and the second on its box office success and teen appeal. Going the extra mile, whilst the 4K restoration may have been done a few years back, the additional director's cut footage has been remastered to match up and looks pretty damn good as a result. Such a theme can’t be laughed off as a trope, as it continues to be a selling point for carny politicians even as the nation’s crime rate drops.

Unsurpassably thrilling, unexpectedly moving and unforgettably hilarious in equal measure, the future of law enforcement is back in a definitive 4K UHD Blu-ray presentation packed with hours of brand new bonus features and exclusive collectable packaging. Europe's busiest forums, with independent news and expert reviews, for TVs, Home Cinema, Hi-Fi, Movies, Gaming, Tech and more. If there’s still a certain pervading softness to the image, this seems to be inherent to the film’s memorably grimy aesthetic, especially in the deliberately cheap-looking videos that embody the film’s cynical view of the media. This tension—between social protest and reactionary ultraviolence—yields a visceral kind of meaninglessness.Change country: -Select- Albania Algeria American Samoa Andorra Angola Anguilla Antigua and Barbuda Argentina Armenia Aruba Azerbaijan Republic Bahamas Bahrain Bangladesh Barbados Belgium Belize Benin Bermuda Bhutan Bolivia Bosnia and Herzegovina Botswana Brazil British Virgin Islands Brunei Darussalam Bulgaria Burkina Faso Burundi Cambodia Cameroon Cape Verde Islands Cayman Islands Central African Republic Chad Chile China Colombia Comoros Cook Islands Costa Rica Cyprus Czech Republic Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) Democratic Republic of the Congo Denmark Djibouti Dominica Dominican Republic Ecuador Egypt El Salvador Equatorial Guinea Eritrea Estonia Ethiopia Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) Fiji Finland French Guiana French Polynesia Gabon Republic Gambia Georgia Ghana Gibraltar Greece Greenland Grenada Guadeloupe Guam Guatemala Guernsey Guinea Guinea-Bissau Guyana Haiti Honduras Hong Kong Hungary Iceland India Indonesia Iraq Israel Jamaica Japan Jersey Jordan Kazakhstan Kenya Kiribati Kuwait Kyrgyzstan Laos Latvia Lebanon Lesotho Liberia Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Macau Macedonia Madagascar Malawi Malaysia Maldives Mali Malta Marshall Islands Martinique Mauritania Mauritius Mayotte Mexico Micronesia Moldova Monaco Mongolia Montenegro Montserrat Morocco Mozambique Namibia Nepal Netherlands Netherlands Antilles New Caledonia New Zealand Nicaragua Niger Nigeria Niue Norway Oman Pakistan Palau Panama Papua New Guinea Paraguay Peru Philippines Poland Portugal Puerto Rico Qatar Republic of Croatia Republic of the Congo Reunion Romania Rwanda Saint Helena Saint Kitts-Nevis Saint Lucia Saint Pierre and Miquelon Saint Vincent and the Grenadines San Marino Saudi Arabia Senegal Serbia Seychelles Sierra Leone Singapore Slovakia Slovenia Solomon Islands South Africa South Korea Sri Lanka Suriname Svalbard and Jan Mayen Swaziland Sweden Taiwan Tajikistan Tanzania Thailand Togo Tonga Trinidad and Tobago Tunisia Turkey Turkmenistan Turks and Caicos Islands Tuvalu Uganda United Arab Emirates United Kingdom Uruguay Uzbekistan Vanuatu Vatican City State Venezuela Vietnam Virgin Islands (U. More Man Than Machine: Composing Robocop (12:08, HD) – A tribute to composer Basil Poledouris featuring film music experts Jeff Bond, Lukas Kendall, Daniel Schweiger, and Robert Townson. The Atmos sound mix, whilst it sounds great, doesn’t match up to Atmos mixes from releases like Apocalypse Now and Saving Private Ryan. Overall, since Arrow and MGM’s transfers are taken from the same source, there are only minor differences between them, at least in 1080p.

Not notch transfer and I like the plastic j card which was easy to remove from the steelbook itself. It’s the film that a lot of us still love today, with its story of a good cop (Peter Weller) who is murdered by criminals, in possibly one of the most gruesome cop killings in a movie in the 80s, who is then pieced back together as an unstoppable crime-fighting cyborg, who is tormented by the memory of his death and in turn goes out for revenge. The president’s proposed space defense program, Star Wars, is also referenced, and is revealed to have a habit of accidentally killing people. The Improvements also include the Director’s cut footage, which on previous Blu-ray releases that I’ve owned had clearly not been remastered. This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees. The second platter also includes one of the notorious TV versions of the film too, albeit without much attention paid to image quality, which is to be expected. Among the new materials, some of the highlights include: two new commentary tracks, one with film historian and former Orion marketing exec Paul M.

What appears to be their first foray into Atmos tracks should be commended for its restraint and faithfulness to the original sound design, although that hardly makes it a demo effort in any respect, and the extras may well be just a port of their earlier Blu-ray set's extras, but it's excellent and comprehensive nonetheless, leaving this the definitive way to own this masterpiece. We see various shots of Robocop, a profile of a criminal on a screen and Robocop in a car witnessing a crime. Of course, as ever, the image gets that added push from WCG and HDR (here with Dolby Vision too), which leaves strong black levels, and wonderfully represented colours. The inside has the famous office room scene where ED-209 goes on a shooting spree so this is a nice steelbook presentation.
