About this deal

There was a slight dispatch issue with this item but it was not the seller's fault, it was the courier and the seller kept me updated throughout. If you study this poem in KS2, take the opportunity to show pupils the picture book The Highway Rat by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler - they will enjoy their newly informed understanding of the inspiration behind an old favourite picture book! This was one of the most emotionally gratifying books I’ve read all year and one of the most moving love stories I’ve ever come across, and I already cannot wait to catch added glimpses of these characters in other books in this series. I just got a copy of THE HIGHLANDER, also by this author, from Netgalley, so I'm hoping that I'll enjoy the third book in this series more than the first one.

Mostly from the Fort Pierce area, they painted landscapes and made a living selling them door-to-door to businesses and individuals throughout Florida from the mid-1950s through the 1980s. Some that no stitch could reach deep enough to repair and so they remained open and bleeding, festering until they poisoned the body with their putrid filth. She's so kind and pretty and good, and everyone loves her instantly (except for those evil people who hate her, and that's how you know they're evil).

I must admit I was worried at first when she said her feelings for her boss were complicated and opaque. I feel like how he was written is accurate which is why the way he acts, his outbursts and his internal conflict were all completely understandable. I love his dangerous allure, his sensuality and all that emotional tortured feel his character gives off.

I am just so into heroes who are faithful and very much in love with the heroine even if they think they are not capable of love. When Farah revealed she went to Newgate prison everyday for the whole seven years that Dougan was there and brought him food because she made a promise that she would not let him starve again. I knew there was something behind those eyes, beneath those gloves, that would give back to me what I’ve been missing all these years. Meeting as small children in an orphanage 11 year old Dougan and 8 year old Farah stole my heart with their sweet, innocent love. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.Farah knows she hasn't much choice in the matter, but there is still one stipulation she must insist upon before she agrees to this arrangement. I guess I am more surprised by the fact that I was right, but then again it wasn't really difficult to figure out. Talk about anything puzzling about what happens in the story and any unfamiliar words eg rapier, ostler. I had not thought of it in many years, and suddenly came upon a reference to it in, of all places, an Anne Stuart novel. The striking quality of these classic poems is such that they still offer excitement and intensity for today's young readers with Keeping's unique interpretation providing a marvellous way into the poetry.

Unfortunately, it was a wee bit inappropriate considering the darkness of those initial minutes, I just couldn't help myself. Following his disastrous attempt to woo the woman he loves, the Honorable William Haddington and his friends retire to Brooks club to drown their sorrows, only to find themselves agreeing to a ridiculous wager: they must don masks and cloaks to begin temporary careers as highwaymen, or lose their fortunes to men they despise. It wasn’t shallow and he had reasons and experiences that will truly explain why he is the way he is. Kerrigan Byrne’s writing style was good and I would most likely look for another book of hers to read but only when I am in the mood. Talk about how the different characters – what they did, how they felt at the beginning and end of the story. If you have someone to be the audience you can perform for them or make a recording of your poem , play it back and enjoy it! You see, Dorian is actually Dougan in disguise who is the love of her childhood and they “married” when they were children and hence her “widow” title. Dorian who by the way you learn much later in the book is really Dougan was a scarred, tortured hero.
