About this deal

But I have edited this review because after a few repetitions, the simple story, with its punch line, hooked her and it became a favourite. It's really about all dogs who just can't help themselves but eat everything in sight, chase the odd cat or dig around in the soil in your perfectly manicured garden. The degree to which a particular child succeeds in this transition correlates closely with this child’s readiness for the rule-following and socialization that are central to being a participant in school. And his owner, Harry, has all the best hopes that George will be a well-behaved dog when he leaves him alone for the day.

George loves to eat cake, chase cats, dig in the garbage and all sorts of other things that dogs love to do. The art work is so distinctive and the repetition in the text is great for getting little ones involved in 'reading' the story; Oh No, George! Adapted from the award-winning picture book by Chris Haughton, this brand new show for everyone aged 3+ uses acrobatics, slapstick comedy, Sign Supported English and live music to bring George’s chaotic and joyful escapades to life. The one where George leaves the cat alone is a perfect example of the marriage between words and images in a picture book (check out the cat's eyes). To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. George is like a toddler who's been left alone in a room for five minutes while you try to make a cup of tea/put the washing on/brush your hair/hide and eat a biscuit. at the end of each situation could be read and enjoyed by the children as they famililarise themselves with the story, making it a good inclusive class book. Haughton's digitally rendered illustrations have a modern-retro feel, and creative kids will enjoy seeing that the conventional color rules are missing; George is a fuchsia, red, and mulberry delight, while Harry is olive-green with navy blue and aqua hair.

For their first exhibition they asked 18 artists to each design a rug for the Design Museum in London. Kids will relate to this dog who has every intention of being good, but just can't help himself when tempted. There is an orange theme throughout most of the illustrations although there are some contrasting colours and I just love the way the whole book looks. I ran this one by Maddie (9) who chuckled at the voices we used, but she also liked some of the little surprises in the pictures. Overall this is a nice paced story with beautifully vibrant illustrations that can be enjoyed by teachers, parents and children alike.
