About this deal

All I'll say is that this is a brilliant novel and I have no reservations in highly recommending it! Whilst Lie’s doesn’t really bring anything new to the psychological thriller genre, merely concentrating on how much social media and technology have the potential to impact a person's life, it does add another perspective to things and has made me consider how much technology has impinged upon all our lives. Unable to trust the woman he loves, Joe finds himself at the mercy of her revelations and deceits, unsure of who or what to believe. However, I would recommend adding this one to your library list rather than purchasing a copy - it may work for you in the end, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable sending you out to spend your hard-earned money on it. She also reveals dark secrets about their marriage that lead Joe to believe that Ben poses a threat to all of them.

There’s no better time to watch a slasher movie—or read a slasher book—than October, and if your idea of perfect Halloween entertainment involves villains like Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger, the book I’m recommending today is the Halloween read for you. Finding out your wife has been cheating on you for the past five months and then having to deal with what someone was doing to your life via social media is what Joe was dealing with. Though undeniably binge-worthy and easy to devour, LIES was quite significantly spoiled for this reader thanks to an entirely out-of-left-field finale - a conclusion so dramatic and over-the-top I couldn’t help but feel I’d been duped. After all, any finale can be hard to predict if the reader isn’t given even a chance at puzzling it out over the course of the novel. One day on the way home from picking up his son William from school they see his wife’s car turning left ahead of them.Suddenly his marriage, career and freedom are all put to the test when he becomes the target of an obsessive technology entrepreneur who gets exactly what he wants and is very used to winning; in this instance, Joe’s partner of twelve-years, wife for the nine and mother of his four-year-old son, William. All he knows is that her actions have brought someone dangerous into their livessomeone obsessed with her and determined to tear Joes world apart. Jo kept going on about how he wanted to make his Marriage work and stay with his wife after her affair yet he constantly checked her phone, didn't trust her which of course is understandable i just never understood why after she hurt him so much and got him into all the trouble she did why he stuck by her and why he wanted to make the marriage work. It gripped me all the way through and I so wanted to find out what was going on, but when I got to the ending I was really disappointed with the outcome.

While I felt for Joe, I was also super-frustrated by his inability to see what was happening right before his eyes. Posing questions about a persons relationship with technology and how much importance it has come to assume over our lives, this mediocre psychological thriller is a rapid, quick-fire read, but the basic premise of, “can I trust my partner? There’s just no rhyme or reason for the way LIES wraps up; try as I might, I can only find one very tiny clue placed earlier in the story that would in any way allude to this shocking finale.
